A 30-35% APA (advanced provisioning allowance) is added to the base price to cover the cost of fuel, food/beverages, dockage and licenses and permits. These types of yachts are usually located in the Mediterranean or are larger motor yachts, which use a lot of fuel.

First, you decide on a yacht and crew that fits your group and desired budget. Seaduction’s broker will then place a hold on your desired dates. Next a contract is drawn up between the yacht and you, the charterer. A 50% deposit is due along with the signed contract. If the charter is over a year away, 2 deposits can be arranged. Once we have the 1st deposit and signed contract, your yacht charter is confirmed! The balance is due 45 days before the charter start and the preference sheets (for food, beverages, itinerary) would be due at this time too.

Crewed yacht charters range from $25,000 for a small catamaran to $500,000+ for a mega yacht (per week). Some factors affecting the rate are number of guests, size of yacht, sailing or motor yacht, age of yacht/refit date and Holiday dates. Considering all that is included, these charters can be a very good value. No matter what, a yacht charter is sure to impress and create life long memories.
-
Not included are crew gratuities (15-25% of the charter rate), optional marina docking for overnight stay, VAT and tax for some locations, excursions and meals ashore not provided by the yacht/crew, special requests for top shelf liquor, wine or excessive alcohol consumption and transfers to and from the airport.
-
Trip insurance is always a smart option to protect your investment. It can cover delayed/cancelled flights, weather cancellations, or cancellations due to accidents or unforeseen emergencies, the cost of hotels and other expenses incurred during delays.
-
If you must cancel the charter, there is no refund unless the yacht can rebook a different charter for the same dates or partially the same. Then a partial refund is issued for the rebooked days minus the broker commission. Trip cancellation insurance is always a good idea (see above). If the yacht owner cancels your charter, you will have the options of a full refund and/or re-booked dates, within a specific time frame.
